The Tennents- Ain't life grand

He's a  Dickensian gent
But he's living in the twenty first century
He dont know what he's spent,
But he knows he's blown it going out
He wasn't dragged up
But society dragged him down,
the money's coming in,
so its time to buy another round
And yet he still comes to our place
Every now and again
Just to show off his face
And ask us how we've been
"Were doing fine mate. Are you taking care as well?"
"on this sunny afternoon its hard not to feel swell"

No he dont see what its not about, so he'll carry on
Just carry on without
Well ain't life grand
When the green's stacked in your hand. x2

A concience is what hurts when everything feels right
He didn't care for superstition
And still went out every night
A sunday evening and thirty quid gone down the drain
A distant kareoke only provokes rain.
And with a few knocked back and his confidence in full,
he swings  by to a group,
and goes in for the pull
" evening ladies, will you have a drink on me ?"
" make it a couple and you will have us on our knee's"

No he dont see what its not about, so he'll carry on
Just carry on without
Well ain't life grand
When the green's stacked in your hand. x2
